Is this the end of the High Street as we know it?

3 Feb 2009
Online retail sales represents about 10 percent of total sales, so it's highly unlikely to spell the end of the High Street as we know it. However online gift retailers like Bombay Duck, Firebox and The Gifted Penguin can pass on the savings they make on rent, staff and advertising costs to their customers. So the customer stands to benefit by getting quality goods at bargain prices!

But many successful high street shops like Marks & Spencer, John Lewis, Next, Tesco, Boots and HMV have huge high street presence, plus a significant online presence too. But don't necessarily pass on any savings.

How about some radical thinking. I know "Buy One, get Another for exactly the Same Price" Sounds too easy doesn't it? The only problem with risky advertising strategy is there is no catch!

It's too easy for the consumer to work out for themselves if their getting a good deal or not. That won't do at all will it?

Before you dismiss this blue-skye thinking as too left field check out Bebe's blog post "How about Buy One, get Another for Same Price?" for a different spin
