Traditional retailers are already feeling the effects of a consumer spending downturn. The fashion chain Miss Sixty has already gone into administration while JJB Sports are in dire straits.

The mood is that the British high street is heading for it's worst Christmas in 30 years. With analysts predicting the more than 300 UK retailers are on a 'critical watchlist' with a 70pc chance of failing in the new year, as banks call in debts on under performing chains.

Predictions are that traditional retailers who have failed to establish a strong online presence will suffer most this Christmas. With christmas sales accounting for up to 40% of annual sales it could be crap Chrimbo.
